1999년 일렉트로니카 프로젝트 ‘popmusic25′로 음악생활을 시작하며 홍대를 중심으로 작고 큰 라이브 무대를 가졌다. 이후 2000년 취직과 동시 생업에 종사하다가 즉흥음악에 경도되어 AM/SW(Short Wave, 단파라디오)의 다양한 노이즈와 용산전자상가에 버려진 컴퓨터 파워, 하드디스크 드라이브를 이용한 즉흥연주로 데뷔했다. 이후 라디오와 개조한 일렉트릭 기타픽업을 이용, 그것들에 반응하는 전자기기를 반응시켜 나오는 노이즈를 연주하는 쪽으로 확장하고 있다.
최근에는 Reaktor등의 모듈라 프로그램의 패치를 이용, 라디오의 노이즈를 시뮬레이트하는 작업과 AM,FM 라디오 송신, 시각적으로 존재하는 모든것들을 라디오로 흡수하는 방법을 고민하며 음악과 영상의 경계를 넘나드는 작업으로 영역을 확장하고 있다.
이러한 시도들이 맞닿아 2006년부터 프로젝트 ‘지평선 잠수부’의 멤버 류한길 최정호와 함께 도시와 사운드, 비쥬얼을 오가는 실험을 하고 있고, 매달 열리는 RELAY, 불가사리 등의 공연에 정기적으로 참여중이며. 각종 사운드 인스톨레이션 작업과 일련의 작업들을 이용한 단편영화 작업에 몰두중이다. 2008년 2월에는 즉흥음악을 중심으로 한 소규모 공간 ’닻올림‘을 오픈하고 정기연주회를 기획하고 있다.

born in Seoul, 1975 He living and doing his artworks in Seoul. Jin Sangtae started music with electronica project, ‘ popmusic25 ’ , in 1999 and had several live concerts around Hongik University area. When he got a job in 2000, he a ttracted to improvised music. He debuted with using AM/SW(short wave) which has various sound, abandoned computer ’ s power and hard disk drive on his concert. After that, he used radio and remodeled electronic guitar pickup to electronic machines, and expended the sounds to play noise, which are reacted by electronic machines. Recently, Jin Sangtae did some work using Modular program patch such as, Reaktor and simulated noise from radio. He researched to receipt everything, which are existing as a visual, to radio and researched to transmit to am,fm radio, too. In addition, Jin Sangtae expended his work that beyond music and images, for instance, he created ‘ Driving performance ’ which is combined with image map, driving a car and floating in the road. He is one of the members of ‘ the horizon drowner ’ for his experimental attempts are fit with them. In the project, he experimenting of sound, visual. Jin Sangtae is also regularly participated in ‘ RELAY ’ , the media improvised concert, and Bulgasari concert . in 2008 He made ’dotolim‘ - a name of small space for electro-acoustic music.
